Using your insurance benefits for counseling is as harmful to your future insurability as filing bankruptcy is to your credit score. For that and many other reasons, Rockwall Counseling therapists are not on any insurance panels. Some of these reasons are addressed below.
When you use insurance benefits for counseling, a “label” or diagnosis is required, such as Major Depression, Anxiety Disorder, etc. These labels often cause you to be rated “high risk” for life or health insurance in the future. Having counseling in your insurance use records can, and often does cause people to be denied life insurance coverage completely. And, unlike a bankruptcy on your credit score, this label follows you in your medical records the rest of your life.
You are in charge of that. Although your therapist will give you a Plan of Care (as required by state law), you are free to stop, come less often, or follow the plan as you decide is best for you.
Professional counseling has no resemblance to “talking to a friend or pastor.” Your therapist is licensed, trained, and skilled in interventional techniques used to achieve best results.
Debbie Tudor, LPC-Supervisor does remote counseling only. You choose the medium-a phone call, FaceTime, or Skype. The convenience of not having to leave your home or office, coupled with the privacy of not seeing anyone else in a waiting room, makes this format ideal for many people.
Handling a relationship with a parent or ex-partner who is oblivious to anyone else’s needs and strives to control you to suit their wishes is a special situation requiring special counseling training. Debbie Tudor, LPC-Supervisor is one of only four Certified therapists in the state of Texas who treats those with this unique life challenge.
